you were not what I expected

Sometimes I like to write poetry. Here's one I wrote recently

You were not what I expected
You were much more
Than the stars that dotted the sky that night
(not even that comet, flashing quickly by)
You were not what I wished for
You were something more
Than the depths of the Pacific Ocean
Flowing endlessly

I dreamed a dream of you and us
But somehow along the line

My heart stopped,
Flew, it flew away
You were not what I dreamed of
You were so much more

I am sorry
Forgive me
For leaving so
But I wasn't what I expected
I was less than more
So let me fly
Far, so far away

So you can get what you hope for
So very much more than me
